Abstract
A study is reported of the feasibility of using an aspherical mirror, with its surface in the shape of a prolate ellipsoid of revolution, in the scanning system of a high-speed photographic framing camera. An analysis is reported of the optimisation of the parameters of the optical system of the camera starting from the aberration minimisation conditions. An aspherical mirror of this kind performs not only the scanning function, but acts as a condenser, thus simplifying greatly the construction of the camera.
