Abstract
Free-space photonic switches are promising candidates for high-density, large-scale photonic switching fabrics. In free-space switches, there are two types of interconnections between switching devices: imaging and micro-beam interconnections. Here, we present a compact digital free-space photonic switching module using micro-beam interconnections, and show a liquid-crystal micro-beam deflector array that can be used for highly precise beam alignment.
