Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of the development status of high-temperature superconducting (HTSC) bolometers based on silicon-membrane technology. It covers theoretical questions, including a discussion of the main noise sources and the features of the operating regimes of the bolometers, taking into account positive and negative electrothermal feedback, the specifics of obtaining high-quality HTSC films on silicon substrates, and the design and processing features involved in fabricating single bolometers with a large detector area and microbolometers for linear and two-dimensional arrays. The results of the calculational modeling of the main characteristics are analyzed and are compared with experiment. © 2004 Optical Society of America
