Abstract

The room temperature properties of commercial, high-strength aluminum alloys are reviewed. In addition, the properties of experimental aluminum alloys of the —T6 type are discussed with respect to tensile, tear, and fracture toughness properties. Both the commercial and experimental aluminum alloys are compared with a maraged 18Ni-7Co-5Mo steel alloy and a beta-titanium (Ti-3Al-13V-llCr) cold-rolled alloy.
