Abstract

Objective: We wanted to evaluate the effect of the number of diffusion-sensitiz-ing gradient directions on the image quality for evaluating myocardial anisotropyand fiber tracking by using in vitro diffusion tensor MR imaging (DT-MRI).Materials and Methods: The DT-MR images, using a SENSE-based echo-planar imaging technique, were acquired from ten excised porcine hearts byusing a 3T MR scanner. With a b-value of 800 s/mm

Highlights

  • Prophylactic implantation of a cardioverter/defibrillator (ICD) has been shown to reduce mortality in patients with chronic myocardial infarction (CMI) and an increased risk for life threatening ventricular arrhythmia (VA).The use of implantation of a cardioverter/defibrillator (ICD) in this large patient population is still limited by high costs and possible adverse events including inappropriate discharges and progression of heart failure

  • We reported non-sustained ventricular tachycardias (NSVT) (n = 1), VF (n = 1) during dobutamine infusion, as well as overt heart failure (n = 2) and unstable angina (n = 1) related to adenosine stress

  • Gmax/Tmax was significantly related with infarct transmurality (c2 = 42.7 for ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and c2 = 51.7 for NSTEMI, respectively, p < 0.001) and cut-off values of Gmax/Tmax = 5.9/s and 5.0/s, respectively were highly predictive for the presence of infarct transmurality = 75% in both groups

Summary

Introduction

Prophylactic implantation of a cardioverter/defibrillator (ICD) has been shown to reduce mortality in patients with chronic myocardial infarction (CMI) and an increased risk for life threatening ventricular arrhythmia (VA).The use of ICDs in this large patient population is still limited by high costs and possible adverse events including inappropriate discharges and progression of heart failure. The aim of this study is to investigate the prognostic value of normal cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) in patients with suspected ARVD. We investigated the early and late effect of primary percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) for acute myocardial infarction on recovery of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), end diastolic volume (EDV), end systolic volume (ESV) and segmental wall thickening (SWT) using Cardiac MRI. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of collateral connection on infarct size and myocardial perfusion reserve by adenosine cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) perfusion imaging in patients with single-vessel chronic total occlusion (CTO). Prior studies have shown cardiac MRI is a more sensitive tool to detect myocardial necrosis It is unclear whether pathologic Q waves on ECG always correlate with ischemic pattern of delayed enhancement. We tested the clinical utility of a novel in/opposed phase LGE sequence in this setting
