Abstract

Two resistive pulse heating systems allow the determination of thermophysical properties of solid and liquid metals, such as heat capacity and the mutual dependences between enthalpy, electrical resistivity, temperature and volume up to temperatures of about 10.000 K and ambient pressures up to 0.5 GP. Investigations have been performed on the following elements: C, W, Re, Ta, Mo, Nb, Fe, Ni, Co, Cu, Pb, In, and Hg. From the investigations at elevated pressures critical point data of some metals can be estimated.
