Abstract

In this paper, a broadband wide-angle reflective linear polarization converter is designed, of which a dumbbell-like resonant structure is applied to form the unit cell of the periodic metasurface. Research results show that characteristics of broadband polarization conversion with higher polarization conversion ratio (PCR) in the range of 13.3 GHz to 24.1 GHz come from the multiple electric and magnetic resonances along the dumbbell-like resonant unit. Meanwhile, the entire conversion performance can be well controlled through changing the structural parameters. In addition, the property of wide-angle polarization conversion can make it convenient for the real application. Due to the simple structure together with the excellent performance of the proposed linear polarization converter, it has promising values in polarization converting, detecting, imaging and so on in the GHz frequency range.
