Abstract

Power provision is coming to be the most important constraint to data center development, how to efficiently manage power consumption according to the loads of data center is urgent. Since the load for every application homed in every server of data center, and corresponding SLA requirements, can be quite different, it is hard to deploy power strategy at application granularity or at single server granularity. In this paper, we provide the Request-Reponse Disributed Power Management (RRDPM) model for data center, and based on queuing theory, analyse the performance and constraints of two strategies hierarchical structure implement of RRDPM. Numerical reuslts show that Equal Utilization Strategy has less average response time, can management more service nodes with the same response time threshold, and require less power management nodes than popular Equal Degree Strategy.
