Abstract

We show that dependence of the liquid/superhydrophobic surface apparent contact area on a water droplet size may be obtained within the framework of the simple Hertz's model only, without using the Young's equation. The developed theoretical approach is in a good agreement with our experiments conducted on a ZnO nanomaterial surface.
