Abstract

Four species of hepatics, Barbilophozia barbata (Schmid. ex Schreb.) Loeske, B. kunzeana (Hiib.) Gams, Calypogeia muelleriana (Schiffn.) K. Miill., and Tritomaria quinquedentata (Huds.) Buch are reported new to Wyoming. This increases the known flora of the state to 79 species. The hepatic flora of Wyoming has been documented by Porter (1933, 1935) and Hong (1977). Hong listed 75 species from the state. During fieldwork in 1981 in Grand Teton National Park, Teton County, western Wyoming, collections of hepatics were made. In addition, collections made by C. Manville in 1970 were discovered at the small park herbarium in Moose. The following four species are reported new to Wyoming. All were to be expected from the state, since they all occur in adjacent states (Hong 1977). Nomenclature follows Stotler and Crandall-Stotler (1977). Barbilophozia barbata (Schmid. ex Schreb.) Loeske. On soil in damp gully, mature Picea engelmanii-Abies forest on north facing slope, northwest end of Jackson Lake, 7,000'. Manville 3799 (Moose Herbarium, GTNP). B. kunzeana (HUib.) Gams. Cascade trail. Lawton 1743 (wTU). Calypogeia muelleriana (Schiffn.) K. Mill. On damp humus over decaying wood in forest, west shore of Leigh Lake, 6,800'. Spence 973a (uBc).
