Abstract

This study aimed to determines the heat transfer for flow past a cylinder with a slit. The flows past a cylinder with a slit at different angles of inclination were simulated to determine the effect of the inclination of the slit on the flow pattern and heat transfer. The results show that the slit increases the local Nusselt number and the average Nusselt number for a cylinder. At regimes of higher Reynolds number, there is a significant increase in heat transfer caused by the slit. In terms of increasing the local heat transfer coefficient, the injection mode is more effective than the blowing/suction mode However, the average heat transfer coefficient has a maximum value when the angle of inclination of the slit approaches a critical angle.
