Abstract

Forced heat convection in the context of slow streaming motion past a permeable sphere is studied, postulating the normal velocity on the surface with Darcian law. The analytic expression for mean Nusselt number, obtained upto O( σ 2 Re 2)under the assumption that the flow Reynolds number Re < 1 and the Prandtl number σ at most of O(1) shows the improved effect of permeability on heat transfer in comparison to the existing results in the literature. Enhanced heat transfer is realised with increasing permeability when axial spin incident with free stream is given to the body.
