Abstract

Abstract As part of a comprehensive effort to reduce carbon emissions, Maine officials announced a plan in 2019 to install 100,000 heat pumps across the state by 2025. They achieved this goal two years ahead of schedule in July 2023. For an electric heating technology that historically was only appropriate for warmer climates, the state’s success is encouraging.Government officials look on build on that success and other states are looking to the program as a model.
