Abstract
The thermal effects of dissolution of cellulose in water and mixtures of water and dimethyl sulfoxide were determined. The point of view that the energetics of the reaction of cellobiose with aqueous-organic mixtures is a function of the intensity of the intermolecular interaction between the components and structure of the mixed solvent and the basicity of the organic component.
