Abstract

The purpose of this work is to study the chemical consequences of filiation 57Ni → 57Co → 57Fe in a chelate matrix of nickel oxinate. 57Ni is produced by the 58Ni( p, pn) 57Ni or 56Fe( α, 3 n) 57Ni reaction. The oxidation number of the 57Co species formed by decay of 57Ni in labelled Ni-oxinate is determined. Parallel to this the properties of 57Co oxinate are investigated when the latter is incorporated in Ni-oxinate by coprecipitation. Both types of material have been heated and/or exposed to ionizing radiation. The results yield information on the solid state reactions occurring in both labelled and doped crystals.
