Abstract

The present review deals with studies of the heat capacity of aqueous solutions of electrolytes. The material has beenselected to show the extent to which the studies which have been carried out reveal the relationship between the heat capacityof the solutions and their internal chemical character, with reference to the dependence of the heat capacity of solutions ontheir structure, the hydration and hydrolysis of ions, the formation of acido-complexes, etc. Some promising possibilitiesprovided by the study of the heat capacity of aqueous solutions of electrolytes have been noted. The bibliography contains264 references.
