Abstract

Climate change is the greatest threat to global public health, and the US health care sector is responsible for 8.5% of US greenhouse gas emissions. Health system-based Sustainability Centers—with the mission of minimizing climate impact on humans and human impact on climate—can create sustainable health systems, which can catalyze the transformational economic change needed to reduce the impact of climate change on global public health.
