Abstract

Abstract-Based on the ISCST3 model and the health risk assessment model recommended by U.S.EPA, a new health risk assessment of atmospheric environment was set up for hazardous wastes landfill disposal. The atmospheric environmental health risks of the electroplating sludge into the general industrial solid waste landfill were evaluated to verify the effectiveness of this method. The results showed that this method was simple in calculation and needed less parameters. The non-carcinogenic risk of the target contaminants (Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn) in the air which was inhaled by human at the sensitive point caused by the electroplating sludge's disposal was 1.32×104, the carcinogenic risk was 0.31×10-1, they were more than the U.S.standard (1.00 and 1.00×10-6), which were obvious. In terms of health risks in atmospheric environment at the sensitive point, this electroplating sludge could not enter the general industrial solid waste landfill.
