Abstract

Within this article, the author will be discussing the vital role that support workers have in managing risk and in maintaining a safe working environment for themselves, their colleagues and service users. The Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England ( Skills for Care and Skills for Health, 2013 ) clearly states the importance of health and safety in delivering care of the highest standards; relevant clauses of the Code will be identified. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 will be highlighted as being a key piece of legislation.
