Abstract

The authors present a novel method of compensating line current harmonics by the use of another power electronic converter, which operates at a much higher frequency in conjunction with the supply mains system. The high frequency converter generates only the harmonic currents as required by the converter type loads connected to the system; the demands of the harmonic currents are then supplied by the high frequency generator. This paper describes the digital computer simulation techniques used for the analysis of a practical system as well as the experimental results obtained on a laboratory set-up in order to verify the validity of the proposed method.
