Abstract A description is provided for Hamaspora acutissima . Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, i.e. leaf rust of Rubus species. Details are given of its transmission, geographical distribution (China (Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, Shanxi), Indonesia (Java and Sumatra), Japan, Peninsular Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia (Queensland and Victoria), New Caledonia and New Guinea) and hosts ( Rubus alceifolius, R. moluccanus, R. nantoensis, R. nesiotes, R. niveus, R. prasinifolius, R. rolfei, R. rosifolius and R. tagallus ).
