Overall key points Inherited haemolytic anaemia is a group of congenital disease that affect red blood cells. The most common types of inherited haemolytic anaemia are sickle cell anaemia, thalassaemia and hereditary spherocytosis. Antenatal screening is offered to all pregnant women in England. Primary care professionals have an important role in screening and care.
