Abstract
Northeastern Beijing is a site where the rising Chinese state and gentrification co-opts transgressive energy in order to infiltrate and dominate queer spaces. However, queer immigration brought about by digital claims to autonomy is creating new social spaces that subvert central power structures. Gentrification, as an international process, creates subversive ways in defining queer youth as worthy of autonomy.
