Abstract
There were 22 papers chosen for this special section on applications of smart grid technologies on power distribution systems. The papers cover a wide spectrum of subjects and discuss several aspects of interest for the smart grid industry in the areas of power distribution systems planning, operations and analysis, including: integration of Distributed Generation, Distributed Energy Storage, and Plug-In Electric Vehicles, advanced algorithms for real-time analysis and state estimation, microgrid and dc grid operation, and monitoring, control, protection and pricing of modern and future distribution systems.
