Abstract

This paper analyzes the Bush Administration's War on Terror, particularly its treatment of enemy combatants, in light of American, and more generally Western or modern values. The U.S. Constitution, court opinions, and the text of the Geneva Conventions are used as authoritative expositions and applications of these values. Bush Administration arguments that its actions comply with or respect these values are found to be specious, if not ludicrous.
