Abstract

In late years, the fuel consumption of diesel engine remarkably improves, and it is superior in the environmental performance. The biofuel attracts attention as an alternative fuel of the petroleum fuel. In this study, experiment has been carried out to examine the combustion characteristic for small diesel engine by using multicomponent alcohol fuels. The main results are as follows; 1) Net thermal efficiency decreases by using DGM addition fuel for small diesel engine. 2) NOx emissions by using propanol and DGM addition fuels decrease than that of light oil at any engine load. 3) HC emissions by using propanol and DGM addition fuels are almost constant or decrease than the light oil.
