Abstract
The growth of small crystals of cadmium sulphide from reacting solutions, i.e. homogeneous precipitation, mainly at room temperature using various substrates and seed crystals is described. The influence of the cadmium salt anion is discussed in relation to the nature of the crystals obtained and also with respect to the formation of cubic or hexagonal cadmium sulphide. The hypothesis that the crystal phase precipitated is determined by the nature of the cadmium containing ion present is proposed.
