Abstract

Five-year intercept was found to be a reliable index in site evaluation of both planted and natural stands of black pine. Use of more than five internodes improves the precision of the site-index prediction equation, while using less than five nodal lengths gives inaccurate results. Five-year intercept starting at a point higher than breast height does not significantly improve site-index prediction.
