Abstract
We have analyzed gravity tide data obtained using a calibrated gravity meter with electrostatic feedback. We find good agreement between the measured amplitude and phase of the major semidiurnal components and the corresponding values to be expected using current earth models and ocean load calculations. Both local and global barometric pressure changes make significant contributions to the power in the tidal bands and are included in the fitting function. The admittance estimates at diurnal frequencies can be used to determine the frequency and to set a lower bound on the dissipation of the nearly diurnal resonance in the tidal response. These estimates are in reasonable agreement with results obtained by other methods but are somewhat different than the values to be expected on the basis of theoretical considerations.
