Abstract

Background Good House Keeping (GHK) or good internal management is beneficial to efficient use of raw materials, water and energy through production planning optimally. The aim of this research is how to apply GHK through technological innovation of multi-stage washing system to get washing ratio between raw materials and water used for salt washing with the lowest ratio. Washing salt will remove impurities, so that later salts that have been washed to be consumed iodized salt consumption can increase NaCl containted and maintained KIO3 stability during storage. Method. The research was conducted in two stages, the first step was the process of washing salt of raw materials using 18 0 Be an salt solution with the one variable was the one level and three level washing system, and the second variable were washing brine rasio of salt’s weight compared the washing solution (1:2), (1:3), (1:5) and (1:7). The second stage was the iodization process by observing the storage time of iodized salt for 0, 1, 2, and 3 months. Results. Good House Keeping through three-tiered saline washing can increase the average salt NaCl from raw material 85,20 percent to 88,35 percent for one level washing and 96,78 percent for three level washing. Rasio 1:3, was the best treatment. The weight of salt obtained after washing one level is 77.13 percent and three levels was 81.45 percent, so the loss of salt at one level was 22.87 percent and three levels was 18.55 percent. The content of KIO 3 during the storage period of 3 months for washing one level was 48.4 ppm to 41.0 ppm while the three levels was 48.2 ppm decrease to 43,0 ppm. So the loss of KIO 3 at washing one and three levels respectively 15.3 percent and 10.8 percent. Conclusion . The results of GHK administrasion through multi-storey wash innovation resulted that salt content of NaCl in a three-level washing system was higher than one level. One-level system washing salt has not accorded the requirements of SNI 01-3556-2010. While the three levels was appropriate. The salt loss in the three level washing system was smaller than the one-level.
