Abstract

The global stability of flow over a square cavity is investigated using numerical simulations combined with iterative Krylov subspace schemes. Balanced modes are computed using the balanced POD method and a reduced-order system is determined. This reduced system then forms the basis for the design of control strategies to suppress the vortical structures forming on the detached shear layer inside the cavity.
