Summary

Introduction

We introduce a young patient suffering from a giant benign mediastinal cyst, suspicious for a pericardial origin. Chest X-ray and MRI showed a 9x7 cm cyst in the left mediastinum. The pathology-report did not confirm the preoperative diagnosis of a pericardial cyst, but showed thymic and pancreatic tissue, suspicious for a mature teratoma. Pericardial cysts are rare especially of this size.
