Abstract

This work presents a mathematical model to design roller drives. It is based on coordinate transformation, triple vector product of differential geometry, and theory of conjugate surfaces and the equation of meshing is derived. Cycloid profiles are obtained and the centre of the cylindrical teeth of the pinion is determined by the equidistant curve principle, then apply the CAD (Pro/ENGINEER software package) to construct the solid modeling of the proposed roller drives. The mathematical model can design easily and the solid modeling is presented to demonstrate this method is feasibility.
