Abstract

After a series of studies of the geography of foreign countries, the Institute of Geography is now moving on to two new research programs on the capitalist world: (1) a comparative study of the world's industrial regions, and (2) a geographic survey of the world's food resources in relation to population. The authors describe the plan for the comparative industrial project, including a nine-point check list for the study of individual industrial regions. The program also provides for work on a typology of industrial regions and for development of a system of indices to be used in comparing industrial regions.
