Abstract

The analysis of the contribution of the genotype and the nonshared family environment defined by birth order to the formation of differences in physical, indirect, verbal aggression, as well as irritability, in same-sex siblings was carried out. In male siblings the heritability index of physical aggression was H 2 = 84% in the broad and h 2 = 24% in the narrow sense. The variability of the level of indirect, verbal aggression and irritability depends on birth order: an increase of phenotypic similarity between fathers and younger sons compared to fathers and older sons was noted. In female siblings the heritability index of physical aggression was h 2 = 35%; indirect aggression h 2 = 41%; irritability h 2 = 36%. The impact of birth order on the variability of the level of aggression is not revealed.
