Abstract

This thesis proposes an approach to modeling generators for solving large-scale power systems in analog emulation. Analog emulation is becoming a computational alternative for power system analysis without the disadvantages of traditional digital computation methods. This approach allows for fast computation independent of system size and the development of accurate models. Circuit modeling and design issues of analog hardware are presented. The proposed generator model will focus on a second order circuit with suggestions for more advanced models. The design is capable of reconfiguring system parameters and emulating load flow calculations with other circuits, i.e. transmission lines and loads.
