Abstract
The first decade of active American and multinational cigarette exportation to Asia has witnessed aggressive attempts to increase smoking, including advertising specifically targeted to women. Previously, Asian men have had high rates of smoking, while Asian women hardly smoked at all. Now, the increased exportation of American cigarettes to Asian countries threatens to alter this balance.
