Abstract
Günümüzde topluma yararlı bir hizmet geliştirmek için kurulmuş yasal topluluklar, kişilerin hem mesleki hem de sosyal yaşamlarının birer parçası olmuştur. Sivil toplum kuruluşu adıyla tanımlanan bu topluluklar politik, sosyal, kültürel, hukuki ve çevresel amaçları doğrultusunda herhangi bir kâr amacı gütmeden ve tamamen gönüllü olarak birtakım eylemlerle çalışırlar. Bu çalışmanın amacı Bilgi ve Belge Yönetimi bölümlerinde eğitimlerini sürdüren öğrencileri; meslekleri ile ilgili aktif hale getirecek, Üniversite ve Araştırma Kütüphanecileri Derneği (ÜNAK) adı altında faaliyet gösteren yeni bir topluluğun oluşturulduğundan haberdar etmektir.

Summary
The purpose of the present article is to inform about an ÜNAK initiative, being called “Young ÜNAK”, which aims at developing research and other professional skills of students of University Information and Documentation Departments by promoting, supervising and conducting planned professional activities. STK’lar eğitim toplantıları ile toplumda, ilgili konularda eksiklikleri ortaya koymak, eksikliğinin giderilmesine yardımcı olmak ve değişim süreçlerini daha aktif kılabilmek için çeşitli tartışma platformu sağlayan katılımcı demokrasinin bir unsurudur. ◊ Kütüphanecilere, bilgi ve belge yönetimi öğrencilerine yönelik seminer, konferans, eğitim gibi etkinlikler düzenleyerek mesleki ve teknik becerilerin kazanılmasına katkı sağlar. ◊ Çeşitli yayınlar ile mesleki gelişime ve bilim dünyasına katkı sağlar.
