Abstract

Human has to be nourished in order to grow and develop as well as to perform a variety of vital activities. Furthermore, an adequate and balanced nutrition is essential for human being not only to sustain health and internal balance (homeostasis) but also to comply with the environmental conditions. Therefore, nutrition is a must among all environmental factors for a high quality long life span by staying healthy and vigorous. To have an adequate and balanced nutrition, all procedures should be cautiously followed during the cultivation, collection, storage and preparation of food processes of plants and animals that make up a large portion of nutrients. First of all, air, water resources and soil of rearing places of plants and animals to be used as nutrient and food must be unpolluted. It is impossible to get healthy and high nutritional value foods from plants and animals grown in a contaminated land. Even, waste and toxic substances in these plants and animals used as nutrients would be harmful rather than beneficial. Procedural errors to be applied during the collection of nutrients of plants and animals, and food preparation and storage processes play an important role whether the foods are healthy and high quality or not. Moreover, the period of preparing various dishes from nutrients and foods along with dining table preparation is also very important for a healthy, adequate and balanced nutrition. Eventually, it can be stated that nutrition is vital for human and is an art considering the above-mentioned information. Today, primarily air, water and soil pollution, and lack of activity in humans, excessive use of fertilizer, pesticide and GMO products make the healthy, adequate and balanced nutrition impossible. The adequacy of the majority of methods followed during the cultivation, collection, storage and preparation of food processes of plants and animals in the period in which traditional culinary culture was dominant points out suitable conditions for a healthy nutrition. The main outlines of the significance of nutrition for a healthy and high quality life, cultivation, collection, and storage of nutrients, the importance and the value of food preparation methods will be explained and assessed in this literature study.
