Abstract

Abstracts Gel polymer electrolytes containing N-propyl-methyl piperidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (PP13TFSI) ionic liquid were prepared by the radical polymerization method. Thermal and electrochemical properties had been determined for these gel polymer electrolytes. The gel electrolyte films with good thermal stability were flexible, smooth, self-standing and amorphous state. The increase of PP13TFSI content caused an increase of the conductivity, and the conductivity reached the value of 3.4 × 10−4 S cm−1 at higher PP13TFSI concentration (33.3 wt.%). The interfacial behavior of the Li|ILGPE|LiFePO4 battery cell was determined and analyzed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results showed that the interface films between the electrode and the electrolyte had formed. The charge–discharge performance of the Li|ILGPE|LiFePO4 cell indicated the potential application of the as-prepared ILGPE-4 in lithium ion batteries.
