Abstract

Abstract The right determination of the gel point is essential for the design of the cure cycle of thermoset matrix composites. Most of the criteria commonly used for liquid resins cannot be applied to thermoset prepregs. In this paper, rheology tests in isothermal and non-isothermal conditions are used to compare several experimental procedures and criteria for the determination of the gel point. Some of them were already reported in the literature, but also a new criterion based in the increase of the complex shear modulus is proposed.
