Abstract

Low-molecular-weight block copolymers of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide were eluted through two gel permeation chromatography (GPC) systems; (1) tetrahydrofuran (THF) solvent with PLgel; (2) aqueous solvent with TSKgel. The elution volumes of the copolymers in the THF/PLgel system depended predominantly on chain length, whereas those in the water/TSKgel were greatly influenced by composition as well as chain length. The possibility of using GPC in two systems to estimate copolymer composition was explored.
