Abstract
The main products of the gas-phase pyrolysis of bis(phenylthio)acetylene in either benzene or toluene at 560° are diphenyl sulfide, thiophenol, and acetylene. Benzothiophene and thianthrene are also formed here. The yield of diphenyl sulfide increases when bis (phenylthio)acetylene is copyrolyzed with chlorobenzene (580°).
