Abstract

Abstract The gas chromatographic analysis of nitrogen bases and hydrocarbons formed during the hydrogenolysis of pyridine on a Co-Mo catalyst is described. Identified reaction products were ammonia, n-pentane, n-pentene-1, n-decane, N-methylpiperidine, n-pentylamine, piperidine, n-butanecarbonitrile, di-n-pentylamine and tri-n-pentylamine. Relative retention times of various reaction products on the following stationary phases are given: Carbowax 1000, OV-17, Pennwalt 223, and a mixture of Carbowax 1000 and Pennwalt 223.
