Caring for children with special needs requires patience as a foundation that can support caregivers in facing various caregiving challenges. This study aims to explore the experiences of mothers who have children with special needs in facing life's trials, and its relationship to the concept of patience in Islamic teachings. This study uses a qualitative approach with observation and in-depth interviews with three informants who are mothers of children with special needs. The results of the study show that patience in caregivers not only reflects the ability to restrain oneself from despair but also involves the development of deep emotional, cognitive, and spiritual aspects. The caregiver's experience illustrates that patience is an active process that involves inner struggle, perspective transformation, and spiritual strengthening to remain steadfast in facing challenges, and becomes the basis for providing compassionate and courageous care. The dynamics of patience in caregivers are manifested in the process of accepting a diagnosis, patience in obedience, patience in facing trials, patience in refraining from sin, encouraging a balance between tawakal and ikhtiar in treatment, and spiritual transformation in the meaning of trials. In the perspective of Sufism, is a maqamat achieved through practice and struggle in facing life's trials.

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the implementation of Islamic education in shaping the ethics and morals of early childhood in several PAUD/TK/RA institutions in East Kalimantan, which have diverse social and cultural characteristics. The main focus of this study is to examine how Islamic education strategies—including the habit of worship and good behaviour, the exemplary role of teachers as central figures, the integration of Islamic values in play-based learning approaches, and intensive collaboration between schools and parents—are applied and internalized in early childhood. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of direct observation of learning activities, in-depth interviews with teachers and parents, and review of curriculum and school program documentation. The results show that Islamic education has a significant influence on children's moral development, especially in spiritual aspects (mastery of prayer and introduction to the concept of God), social aspects (polite behaviour, sharing, and cooperation), emotional aspects (ability to control emotions and communicate positively), and moral aspects (understanding of right and wrong based on Islamic teachings). In addition, consistent parental involvement is a major supporting factor in strengthening the internalization of values instilled at school. These findings confirm that structured, contextual, and continuous Islamic education in early childhood plays an important role in shaping a solid character foundation for children in the future, especially in facing social and cultural challenges in the modern era.

BackgroundTo identify, appraise, and synthesise qualitative studies exploring the experiences of informal caregivers (unpaid individuals providing emotional and or practical care) supporting individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder (BD), and to identify any emotional, practical, or informational needs.MethodsOvid, MEDLINE, Scopus, PsychINFO and CINAHL were searched from 1980 to January 2025. Studies were eligible for inclusion if they were peer viewed, published in English, used qualitative data collection and analysis, had data on the experiences of caregivers (aged 18 or above) supporting individuals with BD (aged 14 or above), and were conducted in western countries with individualistic cultures. Studies were appraised using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme checklist. Data were analysed using thematic synthesis.FindingsFourteen papers were included in the review. Three analytical themes: ‘challenges of caregiving’, ‘healthcare system challenges’, and ‘coping with the shifting landscape’ were identified, encompassing six descriptive themes and three supporting subthemes.ConclusionsCaregivers supporting individuals with BD face complex emotional and physical challenges, coupled with significant imposed losses and responsibilities. The relapsing and unpredictable nature of BD can exacerbate caregiver demands. There is a need for increased societal awareness of BD, improved communication and collaboration between mental health services and caregivers, and improved support for caregiver wellbeing. Further research exploring cultural, gender, and role specific needs of caregivers is warranted.

This research stems from the urgent need to strengthen moral education in the era of globalisation, which is characterised by a value crisis and a weakening of the internalisation of religious ethics among students, particularly in the context of Islamic boarding school-based education. The purpose of this study is to analyse the implementation of Sufi-based education in shaping the moral development of students at MTs NU Sindujoyo Gresik. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, utilising data collection techniques such as participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the perspective of Islamic spiritual education and the theory of value internalisation. The results of the study indicate that the integration of Sufi values based on Islamic boarding school culture, the exemplary behaviour of teachers and kiai, and routine spiritual activities such as Dhuha prayer, Dhuhr prayer in congregation, dhikr, and istighasah play an important role in forming a conducive educational ecosystem. Values such as tazkiyat al-nafs, muraqabah, ikhlas, and Mahmudah morals are effectively internalised in the lives of students. The findings demonstrate an improvement in students' moral character, including discipline, responsibility, social empathy, and self-control, through a synergy between the formal curriculum, the hidden curriculum, and Islamic boarding school culture. Sufi-based education focuses not only on cognitive aspects but also brings about profound moral and spiritual transformation, making it a relevant model for integrative and adaptive Islamic education.

Although the issue of students’ legal awareness has received attention in various previous studies, research that specifically examines the formation of legal awareness through the integration of law and Islamic education in Islamic religious higher education institutions remains relatively limited, even though this integration holds strategic potential for shaping legal awareness that is not only normative but also rooted in Islamic moral and spiritual values. This study aims to analyze the formation of students’ legal awareness in relation to the integration of law and Islamic education at Institut Agama Islam Al Amanah Jeneponto. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed to explore in depth students’ understanding, attitudes, and legal behavior within the context of Islamic education. The participants consisted of students and lecturers selected through purposive sampling based on their relevance to the research objectives. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies, and were then analyzed using an interactive analysis technique encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the formation of students’ legal awareness is influenced by their understanding of positive legal norms, the internalization of Islamic values, and learning practices that integrate cognitive, ethical, and spiritual dimensions. The integration of law and Islamic education was found to foster more reflective and value-based legal awareness among students, although challenges remain in terms of implementation and consistency in legal behavior. These findings contribute to the development of Islamic law and humanities studies by underscoring the importance of integrative approaches in legal education at Islamic higher education institutions and recommend the strengthening of curricula and integrative learning strategies to sustainably enhance students’ legal awareness.
