Abstract

The possibility of increasing the gain of two- and four-wave mixings in an artificial Kerr medium which consist of spherical microparticles suspended in liquid is shown. The dynamic mechanism of hologram formation in such a medium is utilized in connection with the moving fringe method. Optimal conditions for several physical quantities of the medium are derived. The observed amplification factor of the output beam is ∼1.5 times that of the stationary case without a moving fringe.
