Abstract
This paper studies the propagation characteristics and performance results of digital Land Mobile Satellite (LMS) systems as tested in Kyoto, Japan. Signal strength fluctuations due to diffraction are investigated. Based on recorded signal strength, the performance of a digital LMS system is analyzed.
