Forecasting student admissions remains a challenge due to fluctuating online engagement and complex administrative processes. Existing predictive models rarely integrate website behavioral data with institutional admission funnels, resulting in lower accuracy. This study bridges that gap by combining web analytics from Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with administrative enrollment funnel data from the admission of new students (Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru/PMB) system to develop a unified predictive framework. The approach strengthens forecasting by aligning digital behavior with verified enrollment milestones. A quantitative explanatory design was employed, applying Pearson correlation to identify linear relationships and Seasonal ARIMA (SARIMA) to model cyclical admission trends. The dataset includes GA4 metrics sessions, engagement rate, bounce rate, and events per session and PMB funnel stages from account creation to confirmed enrollment. Results reveal strong correlations (r > 0.9, p < 0.001) between digital engagement and mid-funnel conversions, while SARIMA achieved its highest accuracy for early-stage predictions (MAPE ≈ 19%). Forecasts for final outcomes were less accurate, reflecting administrative variability. These findings confirm that web engagement metrics are reliable leading indicators of student interest and mid-stage commitment. This research establishes a reproducible pipeline unifying web analytics (GA4) with institutional funnel data (PMB), providing empirical evidence that digital engagement is a reliable leading indicator of early and mid-stage commitment, thereby forming a novel and adaptable foundation for data-driven enrollment planning.

The article presents the concept and subject of web analytics, its main goals and tasks, such as data gathering, data analysis, calculation of KPI, forming of online strategies, describes the main metrics used by specialists when analyzing a website – Bounce Rate, Hit, Visitor/Session, Activity Time, Click, First Visit/Session. After careful consideration the most effective web analytics tool was chosen – Google Analytics. It’s working principles were described and his advantages and disadvantages were analyzed. Working with UTM was described in case with Google Analytics and in common. A website was also selected for analysis using Google Analytics – Google Merch Shop, which is powered by Google and contains different types of Google merchandise. Google Analytics was used to gather different statistics regarding users and visitors activity on the web site. After this, such metrics as Visitors number, visitors’ geographical data and visitor’s conversion number were calculated. Based on the data obtained, weak points of the website were found, due to which the flow of users from some countries was too low, and the percentage of users who made a purchase was significantly lower than the percentage of users who viewed the product. These weak points are limited localization of the site, unclear shipping methods for customers that are outside of USA or Canada, outdated UI/UX design of items page and lack of description with photos on this page. As a result, four recommendations for the further development of the website were formed based on the research data and weak points of the site. It was recommended to add more localizations for people all over the world, increase number of photos, which could make potential customers more interested in making a purchase, and add a detailed description with characteristics of every item, available on the site

CONTENT MARKETING: AN ACTION RESEARCH APPROACH TO DEVELOPING A CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY
  • Mar 13, 2020
  • Cynthia Wiggins

Content Marketing: An Action Research Approach To Developing A Customer Engagement Strategy Cynthia Wiggins Purpose: The purpose of this thesis was to provide an online customer engagement (OCE) strategy for a start-up content marketing company based in Barbados called ABC Investments (a pseudonym). A framework which assisted in determining a process for identifying the antecedents and consequences of online customer engagement and the strategy to engage online customers was proposed and tested. Rationale: The ability for a start-up content marketing company to create a strategy and monetize its content depends on the company gaining a good understanding of the antecedents and how they influence critical online customer engagement metrics. This thesis aims at contributing to the field of online customer engagement in the context of content marketing by researching the antecedents and outcomes of OCE in a real-world environment. Methodology: The research follows a Mixed Methods Action Research (MMAR) approach utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative data was collected from a start-up content marketing company via Google Analytics, Facebook, and Instagram to identify the "what" of the antecedents. The influence of eleven (11) antecedents was tested against six (6) metrics including page views, bounce rate, pages per session, average session duration, average time on page and social engagement rate. The qualitative data was collected from interviews with an in-house employee and used as scaffolding to determine the "why" and "how" of the results from the quantitative data collection stage. The Action Research process was used to test the hypothesis after each quantitative and qualitative iteration. Findings and Implications: Originally eleven (11) antecedents were proposed, however on completion of the research twelve (12) antecedents were determined to have an impact on the six (6) online customer engagement metrics. There were two new antecedents which came to the forefront after qualitative analysis; “human personality” as an extension of vividness, and “discovery percentage” which replaced “hashtags”. The results also showed that online customer engagement antecedents could be grouped into two main categories: content-based antecedents, and platform-based antecedents. Additionally, the determination of which antecedents impacted on which consequences for practical application is much more complex than posited in previous literature; with results showing that an antecedent may impact on one online engagement metric positively but not on others. Firstly, the findings point to a need for an iterative process when determining the drivers of customer engagement. Secondly, the findings indicate the necessity for developers of content to first understand how the components of their content impact on customer engagement and utilize this understanding to create their online customer engagement strategies. Originality and value of the research: Little research exists on online customer engagement within the context of content marketing, which provides a framework for the understanding of the antecedents that drive customer engagement metrics in a real-world environment. In my research, I provided a list of twelve (12) content and platform engagement antecedents and tested their impact on customer engagement to address this gap in the literature. New content marketing companies and content marketing managers can use the findings to create customer engagement strategies, manage engagement levels, and enhance online engagement. Key Words: Online Customer Engagement, Customer Engagement, Content Marketing, Viral Marketing, Start-ups, Content Strategy, Facebook, Instagram, Google Analytics

Women's health is significantly influenced by the appropriate and timely secretion of female sex steroid hormones. Consequently, awareness of hormonal fluctuations at various life stages is crucial. In 2016, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare launched the HealthCareLabo (https://w-health.jp/) interactive women's health information website. This study aimed to investigate user behavior on the website from its inception in March 2016 to December 2022 to enhance its quality and effectiveness. Retrospective web research. Data analysis used Google Analytics to examine website engagement metrics, the number of pages visited per session, feature utilization rates, use access methods, and geographic locations. Over the 6-year study period, HealthCareLabo attracted 21,575,636 unique users, 26,200,559 sessions, and 53,595,955 page views. Returning users accounted for 10.7%, with an average of 2.05 pages viewed per session and an average session duration of 48 s. "Bounce rate" refers to the proportion of visitors who leave a website after viewing a single page without engaging further. The bounce rate of 67.75% suggests users did not find the content relevant, comprehensible, and actionable. The most frequently accessed page was "Self-check for All Women's Diseases," accounting for 10.95% of total page views. Notably, 64.19% of users were aged 25-44. The bounce rate increased with age, while the average session duration and pages viewed per session decreased. Traffic via social media had the highest average time on pages, most page views, and the lowest bounce rate. Among the top 10 Google Search queries leading to the website, four were related to BMI, with "BMI female" ranking highest and achieving a click-through rate of 48.53%. The Self-check feature was widely utilized, particularly for premenstrual syndrome, with 66% of respondents aged 25-44. The findings suggest that women of reproductive age are particularly attentive to health-related concerns, including body image and premenstrual syndrome. HealthCareLabo serves as an effective platform for promoting health literacy, with its Self-check feature playing a pivotal role in user engagement.

MEMENANGI PERSAINGAN PPDB DENGAN MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS SEKOLAH DAN MEMANFAATKAN MEDIA SOSIAL

Admission of New Students (PPDB) in primary and secondary education units continues to experience dynamics. Contestation among schools, especially non-favorites, in getting new students is often colored by gratification. In order to apply to the school, the school provides a stimulus by providing uniforms, shoes, bags, stationery and so on. This mode is the most basic gratification exercise. In fact, Permendikbud No. 1 of 2021 concerning the Admission of New Students (PPDB) Chapter II concerning Procedures for Accepting New Students Article 2 paragraph (1) states, PPDB is implemented objectively, transparently, and accountably. Education units have many options in marketing education, avoiding a variety of commendable action options. The best option is to improve the quality of educational services starting from the management of marketing services. The quality of RATER services (reliability, assurance, tangible, empathy, and responsiveness) is expected to be a solution to the increasingly tough competition in PPDB, especially when the world community enters the era of industrial revolution 4.0. Among educational marketing management, social media-based educational marketing is the hottest option. Because, social media today is increasingly dominant to be a part of the lives of all generations, from the older, middle generation, let alone the millennial generation. The best improvement of educational services is to improve the quality of educators. Teachers are the key role in whether or not education services are qualified. No matter how good the curriculum is, if the educator's services in the education unit are of low quality, then the education services remain low. On the contrary, no matter how bad the curriculum is, if the teachers who teach are of high quality, then the quality of educational services is high. Ideally, the best educational services start from a quality concept, are implemented by qualified educators, and are managed using services that are reliable, guaranteed, real, empathetic, and responsive to various phenomena that occur, especially for students. Quality educators who are managed with school-based management that is also qualified make the school an ideal place for learning for students. This kind of education unit is what parents are looking for to entrust their children to study at school. By improving the quality of schools plus a social media-based marketing system, it is the best way to win the competition for the admission of new students elegantly

  • Ensaio: Avaliação e Políticas Públicas em Educação
  • Alexandre Nascimento De Almeida + 3 more

Starting in 2007 with the implementation of the Support Program to Restructure and Expansion Plans of Federal Universities (Reuni, acronym in Portuguese), Brazil doubled the number of admissions in public higher education within a decade, while also making the admissions process more inclusive. However, this rapid expansion has led to criticism regarding the loss of quality in public higher education. The objective of this study is to compare the labor market performances of successful graduated and dropout students who majored in four disciplines that encompass this expansion policy. The nonparametric Binomial and Mann-Whitney tests were used to compare the performances of the groups of students who had successfully graduated and those who had dropped out of their courses at the Planaltina campus of the University of Brasilia (UnB-FUP). The performance of the graduated students in our sample was worrisome, as our results show that there is a high number of unemployed students and, that among those employed, few work in the area they majored in, raising doubts about the effectiveness of the policy to expand the number of admissions in higher education held in Brazil.

Real-Time Data Assimilation for Improving Linear Municipal Solid Waste Prediction Model: A Case Study in Seattle
  • Aug 4, 2014
  • Journal of Energy Engineering
  • Jingwei Song + 2 more

A commonly used data assimilation (DA) algorithm, Kalman filter, is integrated with the seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) model to make a one-step forecast of monthly municipal solid waste (MSW) generation in Seattle. The DA solves the problem that parameters of the forecasting model need to be updated in every forecasting process. The performances of prediction models are compared using mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), root-mean-square-error (RMSE), and 95% confidence interval. The MAPE of the SARIMA model with DA is 0.0422, whereas the MAPE of the SARIMA without DA is 0.0914. A 95% confidence interval of SARIMA without DA keeps increasing, whereas SARIMA with DA remains constant, which means DA raises the stability of SARIMA as time progresses. Results show that DA enables the same MSW prediction model with more accurate and more robust forecast results. The SARIMA parameter updating cycle can be prolonged, which saves time and effort.

One of the tertiary institutions in Surabaya City, East Java Province, is experiencing a decline in new students from the target that has been determined in previous years. The analysis conducted by tertiary institutions uses a SWOT analysis approach, by looking at the conditions experienced both from internal and external aspects. In addition, tertiary institutions also look at the aspects of opportunities and threats that affect new student admissions. In addition to looking at the four aspects, universities see the supporting factor in the admission of new students from the variable "Quality of higher education that can give an attractive impression", because this variable is very influential on new student admissions. This makes universities carry out digital marketing strategies. The target of new student candidates is students who have potential. Digital marketing media is the use of social media (Facebook and Instagram) and advertising on local television and local radio. The result of digital marketing is that it can increase the admission of new students, thereby increasing the reputation of higher education institutions and optimizing digital marketing.
