Abstract
Several methods have been chosen to load solid particles into an airflow in the surface processing industry according to the physical properties of the particle. The most important property is the size or shape. A suction-type apparatus is widely employed for solid particles with an apparent diameter of the order of 100 μm. This paper deals with fundamental characteristics of this type of apparatus, i.e. the relationship between the mass flow rate of the solid particles and the flow rate of the suction air. Alumina particles with apparent diameters of 350 and 195 μm, were used. It was ascertained that there is a working condition proportional to both flow rates. The limiting quantities of mass flow rate of the solid particles is also discussed.
