Abstract

A full-wave numerical approach is presented for simulating scattering from a ship on a sea-like surface. The ship on the sea-like surface is modeled as a ship on a random surface with the impedance boundary condition (IBC). The self-dual integral equation (SDIE) is first adopted to simulate scattering from this model. To simulate the large scale of this model, the parallel multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA) is further applied to enhance the efficiency for this 3-D large-scale EM problem. The simulation model is compared with the model of a ship on a flat surface and on a perfectly electrically conducting random surface, respectively. The effect of the sea surface parameters is studied by using the developed simulation model.
